The Glided Age

The term glided age was named by the famous author, Mark Twain. Lasted from 1865 to 1898, The glided age was the era that had a beautiful golden layer on top of rusted metal. 

Modern Glided Age

In the Modern times, you can see billionaires owning up to 20% of total income received each year. As they get wealthier the poverty starts increasing ,which may commence the 2nd Glided Age.

Underneath the Layer

Many immigrants and just citizens were not given a good pay or conditions to survive in. Some people lived in close contact in houses costing as less as 5 cents a day.

Protests

With the Unfair Wages and conditions, People were bound to go on strike. Strikes in the Glided Age were mostly done by Labor Union ,and these laborers usually lost against the Robber Barons.

Robber Baron

The Definition of a Robber Baron is a person who illegally uses Political power to promote ones corporation. People like J.P. Morgan are a good example of this. There are others like Carnegie who were a mix since they used political power ,but tried to spread a philanthropy ideas around.
